Fixing Discord Phone Verification That Does Not Send a Code
When Discord does not send its 6-digit code, the cause is usually in the error message itself: an invalid format, a number already in use, a VoIP rejection or too many attempts. Read the message, apply the matching fix, and avoid tapping Send repeatedly. A different line from the Discord number list helps when the number is the cause.
Read the exact error first
The wording of Discord's phone error tells you which fix to try. Messages about format point to a typo, messages about use point to a number tied to another account, and messages about attempts point to a pause.
Discord's help center has a page on fixing phone errors, with the current list of messages. Compare yours with it before changing anything.
Fix a code that never arrives
A code that never arrives usually stalls on signal, filters or the wrong country selection. Turn off airplane mode and confirm the country in Discord matches the SIM.
On iPhone, check Filter Unknown Senders. On Android, open the spam and blocked lists in Messages. Restart the phone, then press Send once and wait a few minutes. Carriers can also block automated senders on some plans.
Fix a number that is already in use
An in-use error means Discord sees the number on another account. An account holds one phone number, and a number that is linked elsewhere may be refused.
Open the old account and remove the number in My Account if you still control it. If you do not, use a different number. A shared line is very likely to hit this error because many people tried it before.
Why VoIP and virtual numbers get rejected
Discord rejects numbers from internet-calling services because they are easy to create in bulk. The rejection shows as an invalid number or a code that never arrives.
Use a SIM-based mobile number instead. The lines on this site are real mobile numbers, which is the type Discord accepts, although acceptance is never certain.
Too many attempts and temporary pauses
After several requests in a short time, Discord pauses new codes for a while. Discord does not publish the exact limit, so counting attempts is guesswork.
Stop, close the app, and come back later. Switching networks or devices does not shorten the pause. Request one code per try and wait for it.
Receiving the code on a public line
On this site the code lands in the inbox of the line you entered, and the page refreshes about every 20 seconds. New codes are highlighted and shown in full for 10 minutes.
Check that the message names Discord, because other visitors may be using the same line. If two requests bring nothing, move to another line. Read Discord without a phone number if you only need access, not a code.
When Discord support is the answer
If every fix fails, Discord support can check the account. Verify your email first, because several Discord features depend on it.
Describe the exact message, the country and the steps you tried. Do not send a verification code to anyone who contacts you first.
