Uber SMS Code Not Arriving: Checks and Fixes

When the Uber text does not arrive, start with the number you typed, the signal and the messages app, because those three explain most cases. Uber's code is 4 digits long, so a quick scan of spam folders and blocked senders often finds it. This page goes through the checks in order and explains when another line helps.

Start with the number and the connection

Most missing Uber codes come from a typo in the number, a wrong country selection or a phone with no signal.

Compare each digit and the dial prefix in the app with your SIM. Turn off airplane mode, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and restart the phone. Update the Uber app too, since an old build can stall at the code screen.

Stop tapping resend

Uber can answer repeated requests with a message about too many attempts, and it then holds new codes for a while.

People who see that message usually pressed resend several times in a row. Close the app, wait, and ask for one new code later. A fresh code usually replaces the earlier ones, so read the newest message first.

Check message filtering, Focus modes and notifications

A code can arrive and still go unseen when the phone filters it, silences it or stores it in a separate list.

Look in the spam and unknown senders folders of your messages app. Turn off Do Not Disturb or Focus for a minute, since silent delivery hides the alert. Check that the sender is not on the blocked list. If you ever replied STOP to a short-code sender, ask your carrier to remove that opt-out.

Try another delivery option or sign-in method

The Uber code screen can offer another way to receive the code in some regions, such as a call, so look for that option under the field.

If you already have an account and only the text fails, try signing in with email, Google or Apple when the login screen offers it. Changing the phone number on an account needs a successful sign-in first, so contact Uber support if you lost the old number.

Dual SIM, roaming and Wi-Fi calling

Phones with two SIMs, roaming settings or Wi-Fi calling can route texts to a line you are not looking at.

On a dual-SIM phone, check which SIM handles messages and make sure the verified number belongs to it. Abroad, confirm that the roaming settings allow texts on the SIM that holds the number.

When a public line does not show the Uber code

On our site, a missing Uber code usually means the line was used before, the text was late or Uber refused the number.

Open the Uber platform page and choose a line that recently received Uber codes. The number page refreshes about every 20 seconds, highlights new texts and shows the code in full for 10 minutes. The inbox is shared, and voice calls are not supported. Use your own SIM or a private number for any account that carries rides or cards.

The full list of lines is on the Uber temporary number page.

When to contact Uber support

If every check fails, the Help section in the Uber app and the support pages about text-code problems are the next stop.

Give them the phone number with its country code, the device model and the message shown on screen. Uber can look at the account side, which you cannot see from the phone. Never hand a code to anyone, including callers who say they work for Uber.

Fix a missing Uber code in order

  1. Check the digitsCompare the number and country in the app with your SIM, then restart the phone and update the app.
  2. Wait after one requestPress send once and leave the app alone, so Uber does not hold new codes.
  3. Look for the hidden textSearch spam, unknown senders and blocked lists, and switch off Focus modes.
  4. Switch the line or methodFor a test profile, try another number from the Uber platform page, or sign in another way.

Questions

Why is my verification code not coming through?
A typo, a weak signal, a filtered message or a pause after repeated requests accounts for most cases. Check the number first, then wait and try a single resend.
Why am I not getting Uber notifications?
Notification settings, Focus modes and battery savers can silence the app. Check that Uber may send alerts and that the phone is not in Do Not Disturb. Texts arrive through the messages app and follow its own settings.
Why does the Uber code not arrive on my iPhone?
Look at Filter Unknown Senders in the Messages settings, the active Focus mode and the SIM in use. A text can land in the unknown senders list without an alert.
What does the too many requests message mean on Uber?
Uber has received too many code requests from the device or number and is holding new ones for a while. Stop tapping resend, wait and try once later.
Why is Uber not sending the code to my new phone number?
Uber sends the text to the number typed on the screen, so check that it is the new number with the right country. Changing the number on an existing account needs a working sign-in first.
Can I log in to Uber after I changed my phone number?
Yes, if the login screen offers another method such as email, Google or Apple. After signing in, update the number in the account settings. Otherwise, contact Uber support.
Is Uber down when no code arrives?
An outage can delay codes, though signal and filters are the more common cause. Try another connection and wait before you assume the service is down.
