Uber sends a 4-digit code by text when you sign up with a mobile number, and a free public line lets you read that code without using your own SIM. The number page refreshes about every 20 seconds and keeps each code in full for 10 minutes. It suits a look at the sign-up flow or a test profile, and it is a poor fit for an account that will hold rides and payment cards.
No Uber codes arrived in the last 7 days; any online line can still be tried.

Uber asks for a mobile number when you create an account in the app, and it confirms the number with a text message.
Riders and drivers reach each other through that number during a trip, which is why Uber wants a working one. Uber Eats shares the same account, so the verified number carries over to food orders.
You choose a line from the list above, enter it in the Uber sign-up field and wait for the 4-digit text in that line's inbox.
Select the country that matches the line before you tap continue, and keep the number page open while the code travels. Pick a country where you plan to use Uber, because the app runs only in some countries and cities. Type the code before the 10-minute window ends and the digits get partly masked.
A shared line cannot protect an Uber account, because every visitor to that number page can read the same messages.
Someone who sees your code can sign in before you do. Trip messages, driver calls and payment alerts also go to the verified number, and our lines receive SMS only, so voice calls never arrive. Uber may also refuse numbers that many people use. For rides you actually take, use your own SIM or a private number.
A missing Uber text usually points to the line, a resend limit or a carrier filter.
Request the code once, wait, then switch to another line from the Uber platform page, which lists lines that recently received Uber codes. The Uber code troubleshooting page walks through the checks in order.
A private number receives codes only for you — re-login works whenever the app asks again.
