Free Phone Numbers for Discord Verification Codes

When Discord wants a phone number

Discord requests a phone number for two reasons: a server rule or Discord's own anti-spam check. Server owners can set a verification level that requires a verified phone before you may write messages.

Discord can also ask after a login from a new place or after joining many servers quickly. An account holds one phone number at a time, and Discord may refuse a number that other accounts already use.

Use a free line for Discord

The routine takes a Discord settings screen and one tab of this site. Pick a line from the Discord platform page, which lists numbers that recently received Discord codes.

If the text does not appear, the Discord code troubleshooting page walks through the usual causes.

• Choose a line from the list above.
• In Discord, open User Settings, then My Account, and select Add Phone Number.
• Pick the matching country and type the number.
• Press Send and keep the number page open.
• Enter the 6-digit code before the full text is masked after 10 minutes.

Do temporary numbers work on Discord?

Sometimes, and the line type decides. Discord rejects numbers from internet-calling services, so a real mobile line has a better chance than a VoIP number.

The lines here are real mobile numbers leased from a telecom provider for months. A line that other people already attached to their accounts can still return an error, so have a second one ready. Only SMS arrives; Discord voice codes cannot be received.

Keeping a Discord account safe with a shared line

A shared number is suitable only for a throwaway Discord account. Every visitor can read the inbox, so anyone could see a code sent to it.

If you turn on two-factor authentication, use an authenticator app and do not put a public number behind an SMS backup. For an account with friends, servers or purchases, rent a private number. To avoid the phone step in the first place, read about Discord without a phone number.
